"To be, rather than to seem". State motto of the state of North Carolina. Could you be referring to the UNC baseball team. They seemed like the national champions, but were not to be.
You are correct Doc. I was reading a magazine at the gym our North Carolina and was thinking I hope this is not for the residents of the state, but some marketing for tourists. Interesting magazine and motto.
